Roy Steven (Steve) Walters, age 57, passed away in his home on October 25, 2018 due to failing health.

Steve was born on February 9, 1961, in Franklin Furnace, Ohio, to the late Roy Walters and Beatrice Marie (Lavender) Walters, and his two older step-brothers, the late Arnold and Gary Walters. Steve graduated from Green High School in 1979 and, subsequently, Ohio University; during a summer break, he began working road construction (highway reflectors) and continued thereafter. Steve continued to work for Ampsco until 1999 when, alongside friend and business partner Dave Lambert, he founded WL Markers in Columbus.

On November 21, 2003 Steve married Debra Lee (Gomez) Teets and moved to Mechanicsburg.  Together, they enjoyed traveling, music, the arts, and sports. Steve was an impassionate reader of fine literature, a tortured and diehard fan of the Cincinnati REDS, Bengals, and Columbus Blue Jackets, proud supporter and board member of the Champaign County Animal Welfare League, committeeman for the Champaign County Democratic Party, and a member of the Goshen Garden Club.

In 2012, Steve purchased WL Markers to become sole owner. His son-in-law, Jacob Nott joined WL Markers and became general manager in 2013. The two then began some succession planning and started the transfer of ownership. The two strategically planned for the future of the business alongside confidents, friends, and family.

Steve is survived by his wife Debra Walters; step-son, Kyle Teets; step-daughter, Melissa (Teets) Nott; son-in-law, Jacob Nott; grandson, Parker Nott; pups Willie, Gracie, and Sammie; aunt and uncle, Hazel and Jesse Otworth; aunt, Ester Hart; cousins, Rusty and Lisa Otworth, Keith & Fredia Otworth, Randy Otworth, Tami and Jim Brandenburg; as well as many nephews, nieces, neighbors, numerous friends, and business associates.

Steve will always be remembered for his generosity, support, and kindness to many, his hard work, and absolute devotion to the ones he loved.  Steve was a joy to be with, easy to talk to, loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by all.  A celebration of his life will be held at the
Hopkins House B & B, 8422 State Route 29, Mechanicsburg, OH on November 24 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be made to
